Important ESG Reporting and Benchmarking Deadlines to Watch

It’s officially spring, and that means it’s the unofficial start of the ESG reporting season! There are many major ESG reporting and benchmarking deadlines on the horizon. To help you prepare for reporting, we’re listing the most important dates to keep your eye on.

GRESB

The 2022 GRESB Assessment timeline is as follows:

• April 1: GRESB Portal opens for reporting
• June 1: Deadline to request a Response Check
• July 1: GRESB Portal closes for the 2022 Assessment
• September 1: Preliminary results are provided to participants
• October 3: Release of the 2022 GRESB Results​​​​​​​​​​​

GRESB provides online Real Estate and Infrastructure Assessment training for GRESB Members and Partners. The online courses walk you through the Assessments, explaining how to report to the different Indicator types and include other content-related material and practical tips. GRESB is hosting live Q&A sessions in mid-April to accompany the online training course. The dates are as follows:

• Infrastructure – Asia Pacific – April 13
• Infrastructure – Europe / North America – April 13
• Real Estate – Asia Pacific – April 14
• Real Estate – Europe / North America – April 14

Sustainable Accounting Standards Board (SASB)

There is no set due date for SASB – submit your findings in your relevant annual financial disclosures.

Task Force for Climate Related Disclosure (TCFD)

Same as SASB.

United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI)

Submit to the UNPRI portal. The next reporting cycle is in 2023.

S&P’s Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI)

Submit to the DJSI portal. The reporting dates are as follows:

Group A, i.e., companies invited for DJSI, must submit by June 30, 2022

Group B, i.e., companies invited for S&P ESG Indices, must submit by July 28, 2022

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)

Submit to the CDP portal by July 28, 2022

ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager

Companies in the District of Columbia: Submit to ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager by April 1, 2022.

Companies in New York City: Submit by May 1, 2022

Companies in Boston: Submit by May 15, 2022

Companies in Chicago: Submit by June 1, 2022

Companies in Seattle: Submit by July 1, 2022

Companies in Los Angeles: Note that for first time reporters, submission dates vary by square feet of your building(s).
