Energy Budgeting Checklist
Although energy is one the top operating expenses for buildings, it cannot be budgeted for like other expenses. There are many variable parts to building an energy budget; consumption could drop due to occupancy changes or efficiency retrofits; supply rates could increase due to contract rate structure and market volatility; and delivery rates could increase substantially due to legislation. Building an energy budget requires more than just projecting average rates and consumption levels forward.
As the budgeting season has started, take into consideration our Energy Budgeting Checklist to ensure you are budgeting for energy correctly, especially in a year of uncertainty.
